Now you have a unique opportunity to join this very trip, which combines scenery from two lakes and takes you through both the historic timber-floating tunnel and the heart of Tampere—with the canoe being pulled on wheels for the overland sections.

Although the tunnel hasn’t yet re-opened to the general public following its closure, we have received special permission to offer this piece of Tampere’s history to our customers once again.

We meet for the tour at our rental shop in Kaupinoja, which is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, public transport (e.g., bus no. 2 or tram no. 1), or car. At this time of year, there is plenty of space in the parking area, and parking is free.

This is a fantastic activity suitable for friends, couples, families, and solo travelers alike. All you need to bring is yourself, weather-appropriate clothing, a full set of spare clothes packed in a waterproof bag, and plenty of snacks and drinks.

We won’t be stopping to light a campfire during this tour, but we will take breaks during the overland sections, and our guide will share stories about Tampere. For instance, do you know why there is a cross on the ceiling of the tunnel?

Tour price:
85 €/ adult
50 €/ child (12 years old or younger)

The price includes guiding and paddling equipment. The excursion is conducted using a large canoe (or canoes), but you may also participate using your own kayak and kayak trolley for the same price. Please note that bringing your own trolley is mandatory. Carrying the craft is not a viable option on this trip.

The duration of the trip is approximately 5 hours, depending on the length of the breaks and the weather.

When participating, please keep in mind that while capsizing a canoe or kayak is unlikely, it is not impossible. Although we paddle close to the shore, it is good to be aware of this possibility. If you have any health conditions that might affect your participation or ability to complete the trip, we recommend discussing the matter with your doctor. We also ask that you inform us of any such factors.
