Talven tullen moni suomalainen viettää vapaa-aikaansa jäillä ja järvien rannoissa. Kuitenkin monen jäillä liikkuvan tietotaso turvallisuusasoista on edelleen heikko. Do you know what equipment you need, how to measure the thickness of the ice and where the annual danger spots on your local lake are?With us, you can practice these skills at an ice safety lecture and, in addition, practice climbing out of the ice in a rescue exercise, where you can also test the functionality of your own equipment. It is recommended that those who are active on the ice practice rescue every year!The rescue exercise is carried out under supervision on a plastic-coated plywood sheet set up on a pier, which imitates slippery ice. The situation is safe and an instructor is on hand to ensure that everyone gets out of the lake. Mutta mitä jos retki meneekin ihan nappiin ja keli onkin upea?

No niinhän se meni! Lähdimme kiertämään Tampere Around Tourin kajakeilla kanoottien sijaan. Pyörät mahtuivat kivasti kyytiin ja viileässä kelissä ei tullut edes hiki! Säätiedotus lupaili tihkua, mutta upeiden maisemien kanssa pieni ilmankosteus ei haitannut, ennemmin vain loi tunnelmaa ja hapekasta ilmaa!Nautimme tuulettomasta Näsijärvestä ja uittotunnelin jälkeen pidimme tauon. Tauon jälkeen lähdimme Hyhkyn satamasta Varalan niemen nokan kautta ratinan suvantoon. Suvannon reunasta nousimme maihin ja kävelimme hämärtyvässä illassa kohti yläjuoksua. Kuljimme hämärässä uudestaan Ranta-Tampellan kanavan kautta rantaviivaa mukaillen takaisin Kaupinojalle. Suuntailemme seuraavaa retkeä ensiviikolle! Tule mukaan ja kerro millä välineellä haluaisit kiertää Tampere-kierroksen?--But what if the trip turns out to be a complete success and the weather is absolutely gorgeous?Well, that’s exactly what happened! We set off to explore the Tampere Around Tour in kayaks instead of canoes. The bikes fitted in nicely, and the cool weather meant we didn’t even break a sweat! The forecast had promised drizzle, but with such stunning scenery, a little moisture in the air didn’t bother us at all. If anything, it added to the atmosphere and made the air feel wonderfully fresh!We enjoyed the calm, windless waters of Lake Näsijärvi and took a break after passing through the Uittotunneli boat tunnel. After our break, we set off from Hyhky Harbour, paddling past the tip of the Varala peninsula towards the Ratinan suvanto backwater. We landed on the shore and walked upstream through the fading evening light. As dusk settled in, we made our way back along the shoreline, passing through the Ranta-Tampella canal once again, before returning to Kaupinoja.We’re already planning our next adventure for next week!
